Wildwood Park is a public natural area located in Radford, Virginia. This park consists of approximately 55 acres of forests, fields, and floodplain habitats, including diverse mixed mesophytic forests and stream-edge alluvial floodplain forests in the Central Appalachian Mountains of southwest Virginia. Today, Wildwood Park is mostly forested and includes an extensive trail system built for recreational purposes.
The topography of Wildwood Park is characterized by steep east- and west-facing slopes, with a stream (Connelly's Run) running through the bottom of the valley. The eastern (W-facing) slope is relatively rocky, with several rock outcrops at higher elevations. This slope was cleared at one time for cattle grazing. Historical land uses such as these are important influences on today's forest species and ecological threats. In fall 2018, Dr. Christine Small and Radford University Forest & Wetland Ecology students conducted a forest health assessment of Wildwood Park.
